In conjunction with the 2012 Chinese New Year celebrations, the Road Safety Campaign for the Works Ministry level in collaboration with Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and Persatuan Syarikat-Syarikat Konsesi Lebuhraya Malaysia (PSKLM) including SMART Highway was held on January 19, 2012 at the Kompleks Operasi Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) in Bandar Sunway. The event was launched by Works Ministry Secretary General Yang Berbahagia Datuk Himmat Singh who represents the minister. With the theme of “Selamatkan Nyawa Anda: Pakai Tali Pinggang Keledar Belakang”, Datuk Himmat in his speech announce that motorist travelling on 25 highways during the Chinese New Year holidays will receive a special ang pow in the form of toll rebates and discounts.
This incentive is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the concession companies to all highway users in celebrating this year’s Chinese New Year. During the event, winners for the MHA’s 2011 Road Safety essay writing competition were announced and a prize giving ceremony was held. Also present at the event were the Director General of MHA, Dato' Ir. Hj. Ismail bin Md. Salleh, LITRAK's Director members, Dato' Ir. Hj. Azmi bin Mat Nor, Chief Operating Officer of SMART, Encik Mohd Fuad Kamal Ariffin, Lady Bikers Malaysia Club, Puchong Bikers Group, Jugra Bikers Club, Keicarmania, Taman Bukit Kuchai Residential Association, Taman Puchong Intan Residential Association, SS4D Residential Association and Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) Kampung Sungei Ara, members of highway concessionaires, civilians and students from nearby school.
