Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel, better known as SMART, won another award in conjunction with the 8th Malaysian Road Conference which was held at Sunway Pyramid recently. The Road Engineering Excellence Award was awarded to SMART Tunnel for its uniqueness and effectiveness in addressing flooding issues. The award was presented by the Minister of Works, YB Dato' Shaziman Abu Mansor at a luncheon during the opening ceremony of the Conference. SMART General Manager, Mohd Fuad Kamal Ariffin said that the award is another successful breakthrough for the company as SMART has previously received various recognition at the local and also international levels. Among those achievements are the Best Engineering Achievement Award 2010 (IEM), 2008 British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA), the British Engineering Construction Excellence Award 2008 (ACE), Malaysian Engineering Development Award 2008 (ACEM) and the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Award 2007 (CIDB). It has also received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records, and its uniqueness was screened on the Discovery channel, National Geographic and KHAWATER, one of the most popular documentary programmes in the Middle East.
