With a special arrangement made by DBKL, SMART received 5 officers from Bucharest City Hall on 3 December 2009 at 4.00pm. They were headed by Mr. Catalin GROSU, Head of Protocol to the Mayor of Bucharest City Hall. The group was accompanied by Mr. James Savarimuthu, Corporate Communication Unit of DBKL. The group consisted of several officials from Bucharest City Hall who were in town to arrange for the Mayor’s visit to Kuala Lumpur. The group was shown a video presentation and was briefed on the SMART Concept and Operations by Encik Mohd Fuad Kamal Ariffin, General Manager and En Mohd Noor Mohd Ali, Toll Operations & PR Manager for SMART, with a Q&A session thereafter. They were all impressed with the uniqueness and the importance of the SMART Tunnel in mitigating the flood and traffic congestion problems faced by the City of Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Catalin has also indicated that SMART will be one of the agenda for the visit by the Mayor of Bucharest in near to come.
