A group of 13 Japanese delegates from the Intelligent Transport System Seminar visited SMART on 25 November 2009. They were headed by Mr. Yasuhiro Okumura, Director for International Engineering, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan and also accompanied by LLM officers. The delegates consist of several officials from various companies who are involved in land, infrastructure and transport industries in Japan, and are here in town for the Intelligent Transport System Seminar held in Best Western Premier Sri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The delegates were being briefed about the SMART Concept and Operations by Encik Mohd Kamal Ariffin, General Manager and En Mohd Noor Ali, Toll Operations & P.R Manager of SMART followed by a Q&A session thereafter. They were all impressed with the uniqueness and the importance of the SMART Tunnel in mitigating the flood and traffic congestion problems faced by the City of Kuala Lumpur.
