A group of master students of Civil Engineering from University Technology Malaysia made an educational visit to SMART on 16 October 2009. There were 30 students and most of them are foreign students. Objectives of the visit are to examine alternative construction technologies that can support sustainability in construction, to increase awareness within the student body of environmental issues and how they as civil researchers can help to overcome these issues by implementing civil engineering knowledge into sustainable development; to instill soft skills such as leadership, team-working and lifelong learning as well as building self-esteem & communication skills among the students; and last but not least to help students gain experience and knowledge which can be applied in their future posts after graduation. The students were very impressed with the SMART project and lots of questions were asked related to the above mentioned matters. Head of Toll Operations & PR Department, Encik Mohd Noor Mohd Ali answered questions raised by the group during the 2 hours visit.
